WhatsApp Widgets

Melody Jaimon • January 25, 2023

The WhatsApp widget allows visitors to contact site owners quickly and easily, especially on mobile devices. The number of opportunities for engagement and conversion will grow, making it easier to convert anonymous site visitors into paying customers.

When visitors to the site click the WhatsApp button, a chat window opens on their device. The widget appears in the user's WhatsApp account when accessed via mobile. The WhatsApp web version appears on the desktop.

  • Make sure the phone number you enter is linked to a WhatsApp account.
  • If a site visitor's device does not already have WhatsApp installed, they will be directed to the WhatsApp installation flow.
  • When a user clicks on the widget from an iOS tablet, they are taken to a WhatsApp page where they can download the app for desktop or mobile.

To include the widget:

  1. Click Widgets in the left panel.
  2. Drag the WhatsApp widget into your website.

Click Add Widgets for more information on adding widgets to your site.

Content Editor

To contact the content editor, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the widget and choose Edit Content.
  2. Enter the phone number associated with your WhatsApp account. Check that the number contains only digits and includes the country code. Visitors to the site will be able to see the phone number.
  3. (Optional) Type a default message if desired. When visitors to your website contact you, you will receive this message. This message can be edited by visitors.
  4. Type the widget's Alt Text.

Design Editor

Select Edit Design by right-clicking the widget to open the design editor. To change how the widget appears on your site, click the layout button.

See Widget Design which contains information about design options that are not specific to this widget (for example, layout, style, or spacing).

Enable the Floating toggle and select a position for the widget to become a floating widget. Allow the Show on this page only toggle to display the floating button only on the current page.
