Widget Design

Melody Jaimon • January 6, 2023

Most widgets in the editor include design options that allow you to tailor the widget's appearance to your website. These options can assist you in creating a widget that perfectly matches the style of your site or one that stands out and attracts the attention of visitors. Not every widget has the same set of options. Some widgets, for example, do not allow you to change the inner spacing, while others do not allow you to change the outer spacing.

To access the Design Editor of a widget on your site, right-click on it to open the context menu, then select Edit Design. You can also access the Design Editor by selecting the widget and then selecting Design from the widget window's top menu.

See Add Widgets for instructions on how to do so. Or Edit Widgets for more information on editing widgets.

Layout

Layout options are typically limited to specific widgets. To choose from the layout options available for that widget, open the Select Layout menu by clicking the layout that appears in the Design Editor (or the small arrow beside it). To change the selected layout, click the layout you want to use instead, and the widget will be updated.

Style

  • Colour. To open the colour picker and change the colour, click the round colour icon to the right of the section name.
  • Border Style. Using the slider or text box, adjust the width of the border.
  • Background Style. Use the Choose and Place Images dialogue or a video URL to add a background image or video to this widget.
  • Width and Height. To change the number of pixels, use the slider or text box.
  • Rounded Corners. Increase or decrease the radius of a widget's corners.
  • Shadows. Toggle the shadow for this widget on or off

Spacing

Change the inner spacing (the space between the widget edges) and the outer spacing (spacing outside the widget edges). Each number in the outer box specifies the outer spacing for its own side (top, bottom, left, or right), and each number in the inner box specifies the inner spacing for its own side (top, bottom, left, or right) (top, bottom, left, or right).
