Add a Navigation Folder

Melody Jaimon • September 26, 2022

With the folders feature, you can group items in the sub-navigation. With this feature, you don't have to make a separate page to organize links or anchors that go to other pages. You can add a non-clickable folder item to the navigation and group all related pages or anchors as sub-items.

You can organise your navigation items with folders, which are found under the Pages tab. However, folders are not actual pages. They are parts that are meant to hold other things together. This is why the folder settings don't have page-specific elements (like URL and SEO optimization) or editing options (like duplicate or set password) that are specific to a page.

  • There can be up to three levels of navigation, so folders can hold up to two levels of sub-items. As 2nd level navigation items, you can put folders inside folders. But you can't use a folder as a third-level item because navigation can't have more than three levels (it would have to be empty).
  • If you delete or hide a folder in the navigation, it will also delete or hide all of the items inside it.

Add a Folder

To add a folder:

  1. Click Pages on the left side of the screen, and then click + New Page.
  2. Choose Folder from the list that comes up.
  3. Click + Add Page and then type a name for the folder. When adding a folder, make sure it fits with how the navigation is set up in mobile view. Folders have no effect if they are put in a spot that is only for clickable items, so they might not work on some mobile menu layouts.
  4. The new folder shows up on your site's list of pages. It looks different from pages because it has a folder icon.

Group Items under Folders

You can move pages or anchors under the folder item by dragging the pages slightly to the right under the folder.

Edit Folders

To edit a folder, click the settings icon next to the folder. From there, you can choose to Rename, Hide in navigation (per device or in general), or Delete the folder.

Because a folder is not an actual page, you cannot set a URL or a password, duplicate it, or translate it.
