Purchase Site Domain (Custom Plans)

Melody Jaimon • February 10, 2023

This feature is only accessible with Custom plans.

Customers may purchase domains directly from Website Builder, enabling them to manage both their sites and domains in one place. SaaS companies who provide a complete DIY flow may now do so with a single integration with Website Builder rather than having additional integration with a hosting provider.

To acquire a domain using Website Builder, follow these steps:

  1. To publish your site, open the appropriate site and then click Publish or Republish.
  2. Choose a site subscription, then click Purchase your site. This subscription is for one year.
  3. Select Get a new custom domain.
  4. When you enter your preferred domain, a selection of possible options appears in the box.
  5. Next to the domain you want to buy, click Get it.
  6. Fill up the blanks with the domain owner's information, then click Done.

It may take up to 24 hours after picking your domain for your site to become accessible to the domain and to load correctly on all devices.

Edit Purchased Site Domain

You may alter the domain, update DNS settings, or delete the domain after acquiring it. These activities are only available to the Account Owner or the end user if the Account Owner allows them access.

To change the site's domain:

  1. Click the three horizontal dot icons next to the target site on the dashboard, then click Site Overview.
  2. Select one of the following options by clicking the three horizontal dots icon on the Domain card:

  • Change the domain. To change your domain, first delete your current domain from your account by checking the box to acknowledge the removal and subscription cancellation, then select Remove & continue. Next, choose and buy a new domain.
  • Manage DNS. Takes you to the hosting platform's Manage Domain section, where you may manage domain settings and check privacy information.
  • Remove domain. Removing your domain cancels your domain subscription but does unpublish your site. Your site will instead use the default domain, and you will no longer be able to access the Domain card on the Site Overview page.

Auto-Renewal for Site Domain

The site domain is configured to auto-renew by default. You may, however, disable auto-renewal if required.

To disable auto-renewal for your site domain, follow these steps:

  1. Click the three horizontal dot icons next to the target site on the dashboard, then click Site Overview.
  2. Click Turn off Auto-Renewal on the Domain card.
