Collect Tips

Melody Jaimon • August 4, 2022

You can add a tipping option (also known as a gratuity) to your store's checkout so that customers can support your company and express their appreciation for the service they received. Customers will be able to pick a tip amount or percentage that you specify in the Store Control Panel on the payment page.

You can customise the title and description of the tips section to match your objectives. For instance, if you manage a restaurant, you could call this part Tips, or if you are a non-profit organization, you could call it Donations.

Configure Tip Options

You can pick the sort of tipping choices, either fixed amounts or a percentage of the purchase total, and set up access numbers for your customers to select at checkout.

To configure tipping options,

  1. Click eCommerce in the sidebar, then click Manage Store.
  2. Click Settings, then click General, followed by Cart & Checkout.
  3. Navigate to Tips and gratuity and toggle on the Tipping option at checkout.
  4. At the page's top, click Save.
  5. Click Tips Settings to customise the tip sections.
  6. (Optional) Modify the Title and Description fields.
  7. In the Tip amounts section, choose between fixed amounts and a percentage of the order total for the tip computation.
  8. Customers will be able to select tip amounts during checkout. To allow customers to check out without leaving a tip, include a zero tipping option.
  9. At the page's top, click Save.

If your store is set up to charge taxes, taxes are not added to tips. For example, if a customer wants to add $10 in tips, they will pay $10; taxes are not added to the $10.

Change Wording for Tip Options

You can change the text that shows up at checkout in the tipping section to make it clear what your goal is, such as getting tips or money for a charity.

To change the tip:

  1. Click eCommerce in the sidebar, then click Manage Store.
  2. Click Settings, then click General, followed by Cart & Checkout.
  3. Click Tip Settings after scrolling to Tips and gratuity.
  4. Edit the Title and Description in the Tip Wording section.
  5. At the page's top, click Save.
