Examples of SEO Keywords and Descriptions

Melody Jaimon • January 6, 2023

Setting your SEO keywords, descriptions, and page titles is always a good idea. These are key terms used by search engines to rank and find your site. There are two places in the Website Builder where you can enter SEO keywords: Page Settings and Site Settings. These are SEO terms for individual pages and SEO terms for the entire site. Here's an example of how to configure your site's keywords, descriptions, and titles.

Remember that these are just general recommendations. Contact an SEO specialist who can provide you with customised advice and information.

Keywords

Keywords are search terms that people use to find your website. The most important aspect of keywords is that they correspond to the content on the desktop site. That is, if you own an oil change station, you should avoid using keywords related to sushi. CNN.com uses the following keywords:

CNN,CNN news,CNN.com,CNN TV,news,news online,breaking news,U.S. news,world news,weather,business,CNN money,sports,politics,law,technology, entertainment,education,travel,health,special reports,autos,developing story,news video,CNN Intl

Take note that the keywords are directly related to what CNN does. Furthermore, they do not use CNN in every single keyword. CNN could easily have put CNN news travel, CNN news automobiles, and so on, but they know that repeating keywords is not a good idea.

Description

On search engines, the description appears beneath your title. A good description is between 130 and 170 characters long and provides an accurate description of the site's content. Here's an example of a mobile website builder description:

The quickest and easiest way to create a beautiful mobile website in minutes. Hosting, site analytics, click-to-call, mobile maps, and other features are included.

This 146-character description accurately describes what the service does.

Titles

The title informs users and search engines about the content of the page. Make sure the titles indicate what users should see on the page. This is one of the most important steps because the title of the page is what appears in search engine results. Also, avoid repeating keywords in titles, as this may be interpreted as an attempt to sway results.
