Inventory Tracking

Melody Jaimon • July 20, 2022

Inventory is tracked at the product level in the Store. This means you can specify the quantity of each product separately. When a product is purchased, the quantity of that product is automatically reduced. When the quantity of a product is reduced to zero, it becomes Out of stock and cannot be ordered.

What happens when my product is no longer available?

When a product runs out of stock, the administrator of the store will be notified.

To establish item quantity:

  1. Click eCommerce on the left side, then click Manage Store.
  2. Click Catalogue, followed by Product.
  3. Click Edit Product next to the product whose quantity you wish to modify.
  4. Click the arrow next to Stock Control under Price.
  5. Select the amount available and enter a number indicating when you want to be notified.
  6. If you select the Unlimited option, the product's quantity will never be reduced to 0 and will thus never be sold out. Unlimited quantity feature is typically applied to virtual goods or services.
  7. If you set a product's quantity, it will be reduced automatically after each purchase until it reaches zero. Following then, the product's status will change to Out of stock, and it will no longer be available for purchase.

To hide products that are Out of Stock:

  1. Click Settings inside the Store's Control Panel.
  2. Select General, followed by Cart & Checkout.
  3. Enable the Hide out-of-stock products option switch.

If you want these products to be displayed in your store but not for sale, you should disable this option.

To obtain a list of Out of Stock items:

  1. Click Catalogue followed by Products under the Store Control Panel.
  2. Select "Out of Stock" from the Filter dropdown menu.

Can I be notified when my product stock runs out?

You may need to be notified when a stock is low but has not yet reached zero. To specify the value that will be considered low, use the Send me a note when quantity reaches the input box. Simply enter the desired quantity.

Note: This feature is only available when the Store is upgraded.

You should use product combinations if you want to tra
ck the inventory of each option selection (for example, if one t-shirt is available in various colors and you have 2 white, 3 black, and 1 blue).

Notifications of low stock and out of stock are sent to the email address specified in the Store Control Panel. Click Settings, and then click Mail. Scroll down to Admin Notifications and enable the Low Stock Notification.
