Sell Services

Melody Jaimon • July 15, 2022

You can offer services in your store, in addition to physical and digital products. You can use the Store to develop a customer base, offer services online, and expand your business, regardless of whether you're conducting masterclasses, repairing bicycles, or consulting people across the world.

When adding a product to your store, you can deselect the delivery checkbox to indicate that you are offering a service rather than a physical product. Always give a thorough description of what the customer receives, how they will receive it, and when they will receive it.

Add Services

To sell a service on your website, you must add the service to your product catalogue and disable shipping.

To include a service while disabling shipping:

  1. Select eCommerce in the editor's sidebar, and then click Manage Store.
  2. Click Catalogue, followed by Products.
  3. Click +New Product to Add.
  4. Add the Name, Description, and Image of your preview service.
  5. Click Shipping & Pickup and deactivate the toggle labelled This Product Requires Shipping or Pickup.
  6. At the page's top, click Save.

Accept Bookings

Accepting bookings is perfect for small businesses and individuals that schedule appointments, such as babysitters, interior designers, and rental services. To save time and eliminate unwanted emails and phone calls, the booking procedure can be automated. All you need to do is link your synced online calendar with your product page.

To accept bookings on your product page by connecting to Google calendar:

  1. Select eCommerce in the editor's sidebar, and then click Manage Store.
  2. Click Catalog, followed by Products.
  3. Click Edit Product alongside the service, followed by Options.
  4. Click the +Add New Option button.
  5. The date should be entered for the Option Name, and Date Picker should be selected from the Input Type drop-down menu.
  6. Check the box to designate the item as a Required Option.
  7. (Optional) To add a Time option, click +Add New Option. Select Text Field from the Input Type drop-down menu for the time. Check the box to designate the item as a Required Option.
  8. Click General and provide your online calendar's description in the Description field. If Google Calendar, for example, obtain the code by clicking the HTML button <> to paste the calendar code into the product description.
  9. Include a brief explanation of how to make a reservation in the service description for your clients (let them know they have to check your calendar before they book with you to make sure you are free).
  10. (Optional) If you have a limited number of spaces available (for a class, for instance), you can adjust the stock level to reflect the number of available spots. Once inventory hits zero, the product will indicate that there are no more spots available.

Writing Service Descriptions Best Practices

Service descriptions are essential for defining the extent of the job you are performing for a customer. They should be informed of what, how, and when they receive it.

The service description should include the following:

  • Deliverables. Inform your customers of the services you will provide.
  • Timeframe. When will the customer receive the deliverables?
  • Special conditions and limitations. Any service-specific terms and conditions.
