Updating an Old Blog to the New Blog Platform

Melody Jaimon • December 8, 2022

The new blog platform allows for greater design freedom, more consistent posts, and easier management. The new blog update is available for sites with up to 800 posts.

Warning

It is not possible to import blog posts from one site to another.

Note

Because the upgrade is irreversible, consider the following before updating:

  • The text, images, background page, etc. in blog posts automatically take on the Global Design settings. But in the Post Layout Mode, you can change these settings.
  • All post titles are heading 3s and are positioned to the left.
  • There may be minor spacing discrepancies across postings, so double-check each one before republishing.
  • Month, date, and year are now the date formats (that is, July 11, 2019)
  • The term "by" no longer appears before the author's name.
  • At the top of each post, the number of comments is not visible.

Update to the New Blog Platform

If you are qualified to update to the new blog platform, you will see an Update the Blog ribbon when you access the site editor. To update, follow these steps:

  1. Click Learn More under Update your Blog.
  2. Click the Update Now button. It may take a few moments, but you may continue working on the site while the update occurs.
  3. After you've updated the posts, go back and double-check everything.
  4. Republish the site.

If you use blogs in your Team Templates, we recommend that you update those templates as well to the new blog platform.
