9 Awesome Ways to Increase Your Organic Reach on Facebook

Melody Jaimon • May 11, 2021

You may be noticing that, despite your best efforts in trying to increase the visibility of your business on Facebook, your organic reach is still dropping. You are not alone countless other businesses are struggling with the same issue right now.

Social media, reach is different from impressions. Reach refers to the number of unique users who saw a post. Meanwhile, impressions are the number of times a post was seen and viewed overall by the same user.

The average Facebook organic reach has been on a slow decline since 2016, the year when Facebook decided to change up the News Feed algorithm to favour content from a user’s friends list.

Though there was a bigger drop percentage wise (around 9.49%) between 2012 and 2014, the prioritisation of friend and family content in 2016 completely changed how the game is played.

Then in 2018, Facebook introduced another algorithm change that caused organic reach to decline even further. The social media giant reinforced their commitment to content from friends and family, making it more challenging for businesses to run successful campaigns.

However lets share some tips and tricks on how to boost your organic reach on Facebook.

Tips and Tricks on How to Boost Your Organic Reach on Facebook

1. Put in Some Personality

Your brand will benefit more if you give it a human touch. From time to time, post some fun and interesting stuff such as inspirational graphics, funny and creative memes, and your team photos. People connect with people more than products and services.

2. Publish More Evergreen Content

Evergreen content is a type of content that never goes out of date. It is always relevant and stays fresh for readers. It is also arguably the most effective tool for driving organic reach as it will remain useful for your audience for longer periods, which translates to more engagements. For better results, boost your evergreen content. Some examples of evergreen content that you can post on Facebook include interviews, testimonials, video tutorials, industry news, thought pieces, and so much more.

3. Take Advantage of Live Video Content

Going live on Facebook is a fun and genuine way to interact with your community. In fact, a live video is better for organic reach than a regular video. According to Facebook themselves, live videos get more interactions as regular videos – around six times more!

4. Add More Content Variety to Your Posts

Facebook is a social platform, so it only makes sense to have most of your updates be social rather than promotional. This means that you should cut down on making posts promoting your products and services. Promotional stuff should only make up 20% of your updates. Make sure to add more variety to the content of your posts. Your options include personal posts, lead nurture posts, brand story posts, and authority building posts.

5. Avoid Cheating the System

Using manipulative tactics – like adding clickbait headlines, buying likes, and blasting your audience with heaps of low-quality updates in a short timeframe – is a sure-fire way to get on Facebook’s bad side. Aside from that, these fraudulent tactics are a waste of time and money as they add no value to your business.

6. Start Your Own Facebook Group

One of the best ways to strengthen relationships with your most engaged audience members is by creating your own Facebook group and inviting them to join. You can use this group to listen and engage with your brand advocates. To increase your engagement with them, you can start industry-relevant conversations, create interesting challenges for group members, and conduct live Q&A sessions.

7. Make sure you’re responding to comments

Commenting improves engagement, and engagement improves reach.

8. Develop a content strategy

No shortcuts here. If you want organic content to perform well on social media, you have to put some thought into it. Learn about your audience and what are they interested in. Post consistently to establish and maintain a presence.

9. Know when to post

Publish your posts at optimal times. Finding the best time to post on Facebook can increase your engagement, your reach, and even your sales.
