When you buy something in a retail store, the payment is straightforward: you hand over cash or your credit card to the seller, who charges you on the spot.
What about online stores? When considering opening such a shop, you may be wondering, "How will I get my money?" "It's also simple," we say.
You can operate a powerful online store that is built directly into your site pages, and we provide a variety of payment options ranging from wire transfers to credit cards. This article will explain how everything works and what you need to do to get paid.
Let's divide the purchase procedure into many steps:
Step #4 can be divided into additional steps and varies depending on the payment method selected. We'll break it down later, but for now, let's focus on general information about payment methods.
So you've received your initial order. You are considering its specifics on the Sales page of your control panel. And now The Question arises: "Where did the money go?" First, you should be aware that Website Builder does not keep or transfer your money. Website Builder acts as an intermediary in processing payments: it stores your customers' order data and offers you tools to organize payments and manage orders. Payment methods are the means through which clients pay for your items. In general, every online store supports both online and offline payment options.
Your account has nothing to do with your customers' money: Website Builder does not collect, hold, or process any of your money. Instead, Website Builder integrates with a number of payment gateways, which process payments from your buyers to you. As a result, Website Builder acts as a transmitter in your transactions: it collects your customers' information, saves it so you can see your customers and sales later, and sends it to special payment systems - third-party payment gateways/processors that specialise in processing credit cards and provide the security level required for storing and manipulating such sensitive data. The withdrawal process from that system will be determined by the payment solution you select, so you will need to contact your payment gateway (for example, PayPal) to have your money transferred to your bank if it is not set up to do so automatically.
Set up the payment methods you want your customers to use in your storefront. For more information about how to set up payment options in your store and how to process payments, please refer to the explanation above.
Yes, you can alter the names of all payment methods in your store. How to do it:
If you want to add an offline payment method that isn't in your control panel, you can use one of the "Offline basic" methods that are already there. Just rename it and add instructions for customers if you need to. Here's how to do it: Setting up an offline payment option in your store .
Here are the options:
Yes, you can. Any payment method can have a second line note and full instructions.
The second line note is a sticky wording that appears immediately beneath the payment method (as a second line). There is no HTML allowed in these notes; only plain text is permitted. On the Payment page, click the payment method name to add a note.
The first line is the payment name: Credit card
The second line indicates that all major credit cards are accepted.
After a customer selects a necessary payment option, instructions are displayed. You can use HTML tags in your payment instructions. Instructions should also have titles. If an instruction lacks a title, the customer will not see it.
On the Payment page, click the Instruction for customer link to add a customer instruction.
If you want to include instructions in email notifications, you should use the %paymentInstructions% mail tag. This mail tag will be replaced with the corresponding payment instruction when an order notification is sent. Therefore, if a customer uses the Wire Transfer option, he or she will receive the relevant instructions. If he or she chooses any other method, they will receive another instructions in the notification.
Because the payment instruction is in HTML format but the e-mail notifications are in plain-text, all HTML tags are removed before inserting the instruction into e-mail.
Some merchants prefer a complete control over the checkout process and do not wish to redirect customers to a payment gateway to complete the transaction. The store accepts PayPal Payflow Link and American Express Payment Gateway payment methods, allowing you to accept credit card payments without directing customers away from your checkout pages.
Both of these payment methods need HTTPS on your site for internal checkout.
