Disqus Comments
The Disqus Comments widget allows visitors to your site to leave comments using the Disqus Platform. Comments may serve to increase interest and debate on your site, as well as provide users with information about what other visitors think of your service or product.
To include the Disqus comments widget, follow these steps:
- Click Widgets on the left panel.
- Drag the widget into your webpage with your mouse.
See
Add Widgets for additional information on adding widgets to your site.
Content Editor
Select Edit Content to open the content editor by right-clicking the widget.
To allow users to comment using this widget, provide your
Disqus Shortname. Users are unable to comment until you do so. Click
Disqus support portal for more information about the Disqus shortname.
While
name.disqus.com is shown as the short name, you simply need to input the
name in the Disqus Shortname field.
Design Editor
Right-click the widget and select Edit Design to access the design editor.
In the spacing area, you may change the inner and outer spacing. See
Outer and Inner Spacing for further details.
Visit
Widget Design for more information regarding design options that are not exclusive to this widget (for example, layout, style, or spacing).
Add Comments to Blog Posts
To allow comments on blog posts, build a new Disqus site for each blog post and then add the Disqus comments widget to each blog post.
You must use a unique Disqus shortname for each article that allows comments.
To make Disqus shortnames:
- Log in to Disqus and choose the cog symbol in the upper right corner.
- Choose Add Disqus to Site.
- Click the Get Started button.
- Select I want to install Disqus on my site.
- Give your website a name.
- You can see your unique Disqus URL in the Website Name column, which is formatted as test-2.disqus.com. The part of the URL preceding.disuqus.com is the short name you'll need to provide later in the Disqus comments widget.
- Choose a category and then click Create Site.
- Select a Disqus plan.
To make more shortnames for each blog post, go to the Disqus admin and select
+New. Repeat steps 4-8 for each shortname you need to make.
To include a Disqus site in a blog post, do the following:
- Open the Editor and select Blog from the left side.
- Choose Manage Posts.
- Choose the post to which you wish to add the Disqus widget and select the Edit icon.
- Drag the Disqus widget to the bottom of the blog article with your mouse.
- In the text area, type the shortname.
- Click
Save before republishing the post.
