General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Compliance Information and Resources

What is the GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Union (EU) regulation that aims to strengthen and unify privacy and personal data protections for all EU citizens.

Who does the GDPR affect?

The GDPR applies to organisations based in the EU as well as organisations based outside of the EU that provide goods or services to or monitor the behaviour of individuals residing in the EU. It applies to all companies, regardless of location, that process and store personal data of individuals residing in the EU.

Personal data is any information that can be used to identify an individual, either directly or indirectly. It can be anything from a name, photo, email address, or bank account information to social networking site posts, medical information, or an IP address.

Website Builder & the GDPR

The Website Builder takes personal data protection and the right to privacy seriously, and it applauds the GDPR and its goals of enhancing personal data protection and privacy.

How has Website Builder addressed GDPR compliance?

  • The larger topic of data security is a long-term commitment, not a one-time project. We remain committed to data security and privacy, and we will work to protect our customers in an ever-changing regulatory and real-world threat landscape.
  • The following new features have been enabled:

  • You can now easily create a Privacy page to communicate information about processing your users' personal data in a clear and transparent manner.
  • The App Store now has Usercentrics Consent Management Platforms (CMP).
  • Your contact forms can now include simple Opt-in notifications to obtain permission from site visitors to process their form responses.
  • The Form responses tab in your site dashboard can help you realise your users' right to be forgotten.
  • Data collection minimization and analytic data pseudonymization

If you want to streamline the GDPR compliance process, you can use data discovery products to help identify and classify personal data within your organisation. This will allow you to better understand what data you have, where it's located, and how it's being used so that you can take the necessary steps to ensure compliance with GDPR regulations.
