Crazy Facts About Mobile Friendly Websites

Melody Jaimon • April 15, 2020

Have you visited a website on your phone only to find yourself pinching to zoom in and zoom out to view content? Have you checked your businesses website usability on a mobile device, is it a responsive website? The time to check it is now as not only do potential leads dislike this experience, Google also hates it.

The amount of reputable non-responsive business websites I have visited lately shocks me. I just don't think businesses are getting the message.

How important is it to have a mobile friendly website?

Since the 21st April 2015, Google ranks mobile friendly websites higher than their desktop counterparts in search results from mobile devices. Google have taken it further, starting July 1, 2019 and introduced mobile-first indexing which is enabled by default for all new websites. What does this mean? Mobile-first indexing means Google predominantly uses the mobile version of the content for indexing and Mobile-first means that the mobile version will be considered the primary version when it comes to how rankings are determined.

If your website isn’t mobile-friendly, you run the risk of not being found in Google searches!

With nearly 60% of searches now on mobile devices, your rankings on the mobile device is now more important then ever.

There’s no better time than now to make these important changes to your website

Australia remains one of the leading global adopters of the smartphone with 91 percent of Australians now owning one.

Consumer behaviour has shifted as a Smartphone allows the people to get information faster, from wherever they are with an attitude of if not now, forget it.

Consumers wont come back to your website if they cannot find what they are looking for easily.

Not only that if you embrace this algorithm change and seize the opportunity to outrank your competitors as they see their rankings fall for failing to adapt to the changing and rapidly growing mobile environment.

FACTS

Google penalises non-responsive websites which means lower rankings.

  • Traffic to non-responsive websites has a higher “bounce-rate”.
  • Lower rankings means less traffic.
  • Less traffic means fewer prospects to connect with.
  • Fewer prospects means less potential revenue.
  • Less revenue means less potential profit.

Cost for a mobile friendly website

Considering all the above facts, the profits you can make from catering to mobile users are immense.

To really get a responsive design going on an existing website, you need to talk to a web developer and overhaul your code base from scratch. It can be a long process with a number of steps, and you really need a talented developer to do it for you.  There are some types of websites that simply can’t be upgraded to be mobile-friendly and others that are not worth upgrading as they stand because it would take to long.

We have been transferring a huge amount of businesses across to our framework which offers many other features then having a responsive website design.
