Site SEO Settings

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of increasing the visibility of a website or a web page in the unpaid search results of a search engine. This is sometimes referred to as "natural" or "organic" traffic. The better your site's SEO, the higher it will rank in search results.

Google's search engine ranking now includes Core Web Vitals. See Optimize Your Site for Core Web Vitals for more information.

Filling out the SEO fields on your site will improve the visibility of your site to search engines and organic traffic. This makes it easier for search engines to understand what your sites are about, allowing them to rank higher on search result pages (SERPs).

To edit the SEO of your entire website:

Click Settings in the sidebar, then click SEO. You can now have the following options:

  • Site Title.  Search engines will display this in their preview of your site. It is important for SEO as well as social sharing. Try to limit up to 60 characters.
  • Site Description. Give an overview of the site's content and information. This is used by search engines to display a site description. Limit yourself to 160 characters. It is best practice to give each page of your website a distinct title and description. As a result, we recommend entering your page title and description in the Page Settings menu separately.
  • Site Keywords.  These are terms associated with your site (for example, pizza delivery, for a pizza shop). Use a comma to separate keywords. It should be noted that search engines no longer use keywords to impact website ratings. All keyword use should be regarded as optional.

Site Title

This is the most important tag for the SEO of your site. This tag informs visitors and search engines about the topic of your page. The site title appears in the web browser's title bar and in search engine results.

Important keywords should be included in the title tag to assist search engines in determining what your page is about. Also, when deciding whether or not to click on a search result, real people will read the site title, so make it user-friendly.

Site Description

Search engines may use the site description when displaying the content of your site on their results page. So, while this field is not important for search engine rankings, it is critical for convincing users to visit the site.

This is your opportunity to advertise site content to visitors and let them know whether your page contains the information they seek. Create a concise and compelling description that will make people want to click on it.

Site Keywords

Keywords are not used by major search engines to determine your site's ranking. In fact, your site may be penalised on Bing.com if it contains too many "spammy" keywords. Some smaller free directories and search engines, however, may continue to use them to help categorise sites. All keyword use should be regarded as optional.

Site SEO Hierarchy

It's critical to remember that the homepage SEO settings, as well as any specific page SEO settings, take precedence over the global site SEO settings. For any pages that do not have page-specific content in the SEO settings, global site SEO settings are used.

Google can take up to 4-12 weeks to update with any changes. You may be able to reduce the time frame by requesting that Google crawl your site for changes (you must have your site added to Google Search Console).

Lazy Loading and Fonts

By loading images and widgets only when they become visible on scroll, lazy loading improves page speed. You can also enable the option to display default system fonts so that visitors can begin reading immediately while the site fonts load.

When fonts are loaded, the site may blink.

To enable lazy loading and fonts, toggle the Show default system fonts while custom fonts are loading and Lazy loading of images & widgets toggles.
