Text Editor

To change the appearance of a Text or Title widget, use text tools. Using a simple editing interface, you can change the font, colour, alignment, and style of the text. This allows you to quickly change the style of specific text on your website in order to highlight key points and organise information.

To add text to your site, click Widgets in the left panel, then drag the
Text widget into your site and begin typing.

Existing text on your website can be edited with the old text editor, with the option to switch to the new editor. Except for templates and sections, all new text will be edited in the new text editor. The old text editor will be used to edit templates and sections.

Text Editor

To change the text on your website:

  • To enter editing mode, click the text you want to change.
  • Select the text to be edited by clicking and dragging over it.
  • To edit text styles, sizes, fonts, alignment, or add links, use the inline editing options in the bar above the text.

Add Bullet and Number Lists

Using the text tools in the Text widget, create a bullet or number list. Lists are an excellent way to organise content, features, or products so that visitors can quickly understand and compare data.

To include a bullet or number list, do the following:

  1. Select the text to be converted into a list by clicking it.
  2. Select the text and then select the Bullet list or Number list icon from the text toolbar.
  3. Press the Tab key on your keyboard to create nested bullets and lists. The bullet or number is shown with an indentation to the right.
  4. There can be several nested bullets and number lists.

Design Editor

Right-click the text widget and select Edit Design to open the design editor. The global design settings are used to determine the default text design. Changes to specific text take precedence over global design settings. See Global Text for more information.

Widget Design contains information about design options that are not specific to this widget (for example, layout, style, or spacing). See Fonts for more information on the fonts we offer.

Text Styles and Size Improvements

The following enhancements have been implemented:

  • More text sizes are now available. The maximum image size is 500 pixels.
  • A single text element can contain multiple types of text. Heading 2s, paragraphs, and Heading 3s, for example, can all be used in the same element.
  • Choose a font weight from the list. Select a font weight (normal, bold) from the list by pointing to it.
  • Copying and pasting work both internally and externally. Pasting from both external and internal locations applies the global text styles as well as any inline styles that were applied to the text in the editor. The copied text retains the bold, underline, and italic styles.
  • Custom line height. You can now select a custom line height in addition to the existing default line heights.
  • Specify letter spacing. To change the letter spacing, click the three dots icon in the inline text editor and choose from the options listed below:
  • Auto
  • Narrow (-0.05)
  • Wide (0.2)
  • Custom (between -2 and 0.5 in increments of .01)
  • All Caps. To switch to an all-caps font, click the three dots icon in the inline text editor and then the All Caps toggle.
  • Shadow. Choose a colour and a position.
  • Strike-through text.
  • Link text to data. In the inline text editor, click the connected data icon.

HTML Tags

We do not allow updates to the HTML of the text with a non-supported tag due to HTML5 best practises.

We recommend adding a specific style to the text via CSS.

Developer mode supports the following tags: img, sub, sup, blockquote, code.

Troubleshooting

The following factors may cause the new text editor update to fail:

  • Where the HTML is invalid, use custom code.
  • The site's maximum CSS storage capacity has been reached.

If your text contains unsupported tags, you may not see the option to upgrade the editor. The following tags are not supported:  form, svg, iframe, audio, canvas, dialog, embed, hr, input, map, picture, select, textarea, range, table, progress, script, ins, style

Limitations

  • There is no way to include a list with heading text.
  • Bullets of items in a list with multiple font sizes will use the global design size.
