Breadcrumbs Widget

Melody Jaimon • January 11, 2023

The Breadcrumbs widget can be added to a site so that site visitors can simply understand their position and successfully browse the site, hence improving the site's SEO. The Breadcrumbs widget provides a trail of the site hierarchy depending on the user's present position. Sites with flat hierarchies should not employ breadcrumbs (only 1 or 2 levels deep). In this situation, the navigation bar can clearly show which portion a page belongs to.

Breadcrumbs show the following names:

  • Subpages and pages
  • Folders
  • Pages that change dynamically
  • Store pages  (for native store)

Note

To allow the Breadcrumbs widget to show dynamic pages, activate the Show on all settings:

  1. Click Pages on the sidebar.
  2. Next to the dynamic page, click the gear icon.
  3. In the menu, click Hide/Show in navigation and then choose Show on all.

To include the Breadcrumbs widget, follow these steps:

  1. Click Widgets on the side panel.
  2. Drag the Breadcrumbs widget onto your website. If you're in Flex mode, choose the Breadcrumbs widget by pointing to it and clicking Plus.

See Add Widgets for additional information on adding widgets to your site.

Content Editor

To access the content editor, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the widget and choose Edit Content.
  2. Choose the things you wish to appear on the breadcrumbs. You may choose from the following options:
  3. Home Page. Breadcrumbs should always display the main page.
  4. Current Page. Show the current page in the breadcrumbs.
  5. Hide the breadcrumbs when there isn't a parent page. Breadcrumbs are enabled for all pages except the homepage and pages on the first level of navigation.

Design Editor

To get access to the design editor, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the widget and choose Edit Design from the menu that appears.
  2. Select the font and text selections in the Links section.
  3. Choose a Divider style for the divider in the breadcrumbs between each page.
  4. Select a font colour and font format in the Current Page, Hover, and Folder areas.

Widget Design contains information regarding design choices that are not exclusive to this widget (for example, layout, style, or spacing).
