Configure Alternate Domains

Melody Jaimon • September 22, 2022

After setting up a custom domain for your website, you can direct other domains to the custom domain. This feature may be useful if you have recently changed your domain name or want to direct additional top-level domains (such as.net and.org) to your main site.

After configuring a custom domain for your site and waiting for it to propagate, click
Settings and then Site Domain on the side panel.

SSL is not available on the other domains. See your
domain provider or Cloudflare to add SSL for the other domain.

To forward more than one domain to your site:

  1. In the side panel, click Settings and then Site Domain.
  2. In the Site URL section, click the Add alternate domain link and enter the URLs of the domains you want to forward to your site, separated by commas. For example, www.mysite.com, www.anothersite.com, and www.myorg.org.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Additionally, you must generate the appropriate CNAME records for each domain before forwarding them to your site. Refer to Go Live, Publish, and Set Up Your Domain for further information.

It is possible to display the site on alternative domains rather than redirecting. We do not encourage using this option, since it is likely to lower your site's SEO overall rankings.

Redirections from alternate domains can happen on each page, not just on the root domain. For example,
domain1.com/contact will redirect to domain2.com/contact and not domain2.com.
