Create Dynamic Pages
See Collections for further information on limitations.
A Dynamic Page is linked to a content collection and is used to create many pages with different content but the same design. You may either create a new Dynamic Page, convert an existing page to a Dynamic Page, or utilise one of the platform's predefined Dynamic Pages.
Pages and Popups let users build a dynamic page instantly linked to an Internal Collection. Visit
Pages and Popups for more information.
- If you pick the default Internal Collection (same as the page), everything is connected and you may change the content. Changing the field names disconnects them from the widgets.
- If you select another collection, your widgets must be linked to the collection field.
Note that:
- Before you can create or convert a Dynamic Page, you must first have a content collection. See Define a Collection for Dynamic Pages for additional details.
- Dynamic Pages don't support multilingual sites or site comments.
- The link picker and Navigation widget don't support Dynamic Pages or Page Items.
Watch this video to learn more about Dynamic Pages.
Create New Dynamic Pages
- Click Pages on the left side, then + New Page.
- Choose Dynamic Page.
- If you don't already have a collection, you'll be encouraged to start one.
- Enter a Page Title.
- Choose the collection to which you wish to connect from the drop-down menu.
- Select Add Page.
The next step after creating a Dynamic Page is to
connect your widgets.
Convert an Existing Page to a Dynamic Page
- In the left panel, select Pages, then next to the page you wish to convert, click the Page Settings icon and then click Convert to Dynamic Page.
- Choose the collection from the menu.
- Click Done.
The next step after converting a Dynamic Page is to
connect your widgets.
Dynamic Pages display with a collection icon in the Pages Panel to signify that they are Dynamic Pages. To view the collection with which the page is associated, hover over the icon.
Dynamic Pages do not display in the site navigation and are, by default, hidden. For additional information on how to add navigation to your Dynamic Pages, see
Add a List to Display Dynamic Pages.
Dynamic Page Permissions
There are no special permissions for Dynamic Pages. Since the data is handled externally (unless in the case of internal collections), a client who has access to the data in the collection can update it. Also, no backups are made.
Clients with limited editing permissions can't change anything related to the Dynamic Page; they can only view it.
Dynamic Page Navigation
When a Dynamic Page is created or an existing page is transformed, it is not automatically included in the navigation and its URL is not indexed. This is due to the fact that it has no content and solely serves as a layout. This also implies that the Dynamic Page and page elements will be unavailable in the link picker.
For dynamic page navigation:
- Click Pages in the side panel, and then click the settings icon next to the dynamic page you wish to add to the menu. See Pages and Popups for further details.
- Click Hide/Show in Navigation and then Show on all.
- In the Add to Navigation dialogue box:
- Choose a parent navigation page from the Add page items as subpages of the dropdown.
- From the dropdown, select a Field to display in navigation.
- Click Save Details.
- Each parent navigation page can only include one dynamic page. Multiple dynamic pages can't connect to a single parent navigation page. You can add 150 pages, however, the limit shouldn't be exceeded.
- If a navigation item has both a dynamic and a regular page, the dynamic page items will always appear last, regardless of the order of the actions.
A list can also be used to display dynamic pages and enable navigation. See
Add Lists to Show Dynamic Pages for more information.
Dynamic pages are only available in the site page navigation, not in custom navigation. See
Navigation and Sub-Navigation Links for more information.
Dynamic Page Settings
In the Dynamic Page Settings, you can change the page's collection and URL, turn page indexing on or off, connect the title and description fields to the collection to add SEO data and add custom HTML to the header.
After you make a Dynamic Page or change an existing one, the next step is to
connect your widgets.
